Abarukas Abarukas is a New York City-based contemporary dance company
founded by Yoshito Sakuraba in 2012 with the dancers hailing
from
across the United States, Chile, Spain, Taiwan, and China with
performing experience including Pilobolus, Australian Dance
Theater and
Cirque du Soleil. In Aug 2013, with the full-length
evening piece
‘Lullaby to Mr. Adam,’ the company had a sold-out successful
company
season at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center. BWW describes, "A
true
work of art...extreme creativity, fine detail, and high level
dancing…Mr. Sakuraba’s brilliant mind for choreography.” Mr.
Sakuraba's
choreography layers precise detail, intricate patterns, and
emotionally
evocative sound scores to create theatrical contemporary dance.
He
creates dramatic dance, which is fraught with tension and
anxiety at
every moment of the piece. This intensifies the sense of
paranoia and
peaked intrigue within the work. Abarukas displays absolute bold
athleticism and movement aesthetics peppered with striking
subtlety,
and they offer a plentiful amount of storytelling with
surprising
twists.
“I
witnessed a true work of art...Mr.
Sakuraba's brilliant mind for choreography has captivated
me... extreme
creativity, fine detail, and high level dancing.” Juliane
